Lembaga Tabung Haji, formerly known as Lembaga Urusan dan Tabung Haji, is the Malaysian hajj pilgrims fund board. Lembaga Tabung Haji facilitates savings for the pilgrimage to perform their Hajj through investment in Shari'ah compliant vehicles.
Lembaga Urusan dan Tabung Haji was incorporated under Act 8, Akta Lembaga Urusan dan Tabung Haji 1969 with the aim to:
- facilitate Muslims to save money progressively, to cover the expenses of performing the Hajj or other useful expenses;
- facilitate Muslims, through their deposit of monies, to have more effective access to investment in ways that are permitted in Islam; and
- provide for the security, monitoring and welfare to the pilgrims who perform the Hajj by providing various facilities and services.
On 1 June 1995, a new Act 535, Akta Lembaga Tabung Haji 1995 was enacted to replace the previous act to broaden the scope and role of Lembaga Tabung Haji.
Based on the said aims, Lembaga Tabung Haji has set its goals as providing excellent, wholesome and satisfactory services to Malaysian pilgrims in performing their Hajj; to give maximum returns to depositors.
